Design and development of a luxury online store for caviar and delicacies. Full product customization, Barsy integration, and unique product and profile pages built from scratch.
A user journey toward confidence
The site is built around a premium feel — from smooth animations and a mega menu with visual categories to an intuitive ordering process. The product page and customer profile page were designed and coded entirely from scratch — no template solutions — to match the specific needs of the brand. Every element guides the customer toward purchase with minimum steps and maximum clarity.
A palette of trust and calm
The color palette combines a white background with gold accents, building a visual language that speaks directly to luxury and exclusivity. The dark surroundings highlight the product photography and create the contrast that keeps attention on the caviar — the lead character on every page.
Precision and functional clarity
Guided by the brand’s story and the heritage of the Arabadzhiev twins from Tutrakan, we built a visual identity that brings together tradition and modern luxury. The typography, spacing, and content structure follow strict rules to sustain a feeling of authenticity and professionalism without any unnecessary noise.
Project overview
AEmillius Caviar is an eCommerce platform built on WooCommerce that offers caviar, wines, sparkling wines, vodka, delicacies, truffles, chocolate, and accessories. The main challenge was to build a luxury online store that communicates exclusivity and premium quality while keeping the order process easy and fast — from picking a sturgeon variety to refrigerated delivery to the customer’s door.
1. Strategy and UX design
At the heart of the strategy sits the concept of “approachable luxury.” The user experience (UX) is designed to invite the customer into the world of caviar without barriers and guide them intuitively to the right product.
- Mega menu with visual categories: Products are organized into eight categories with visual icons and subcategories for each sturgeon variety — from Siberian sturgeon to Beluga HUSO HUSO. The customer reaches the desired product in just two clicks.
- Unique pages from scratch: The product page and customer profile page were designed and coded entirely without templates to reflect the brand’s specifics — weight, price in euros and leva, taste profile, and serving recommendations.
- Two types of customer profiles: The login system separates individual and corporate customers. Corporate customers automatically receive preferential pricing and special bonuses as soon as they sign in.

The store comes with a set of features developed specifically for the needs of AEmillius Caviar.
- Full product customization: The admin controls badges (show/hide), custom messages on each product, and product visibility through a flexible backend panel.
- Schedule for weekly featured products: Featured products rotate automatically — the system swaps them on a schedule.
- AI chatbot: A built-in chatbot trained on the full catalog and store policies, answering questions about products, delivery, and orders in real time without human intervention.
- Barsy integration: Real-time inventory sync between the online store and the warehouse management system. Orders are sent in real time to the client’s ERP system.
- Bilingual version (BG/EN): Full localization in Bulgarian and English to reach international customers.
Colors
The visual identity of AEmillius Caviar is built on a palette that conveys luxury, exclusivity, and refinement. The chosen colors create a dark, rich environment in which the products stand out as the lead characters — exactly the way caviar is served over ice so that every pearl can shine.
- White (#FFFFFF): symbol of purity and elegance. White is reserved for the main background of light sections and for typography on a dark background, ensuring perfect readability of product descriptions, prices, and navigation elements.
- Platinum (#F3F3F5): A soft, cool tone used for secondary background sections. It creates a subtle contrast with pure white without disrupting the luxury aesthetic — ideal for text blocks, FAQ sections, and informational areas.
- Dim Grey (#616162): A secondary dark tone that adds depth within the dark palette. Used for the footer section, sub-text, and additional background elements, providing a smooth transition between the light and dark zones of the site.
- Gunmetal (#3E3E3E): The dominant dark background that sets the overall luxury tone of the platform. It immerses the user in an atmosphere of exclusivity and provides maximum contrast for the product imagery and gold accents.
- Old Gold (#CBB162): The primary accent color that conveys prestige and premium quality. Used for buttons, call-to-action elements, decorative lines, and logo details, adding warmth and drawing the eye to key actions.
Typography and UI elements
The AEmillius Caviar design system is built with precise attention to every visual detail, sustaining a unified, recognizable aesthetic across every page of the store.
- Comfortaa font (sans-serif): An elegant, rounded typeface that combines a modern look with soft, welcoming legibility. Used in three levels — H1 headings (38px, bold) for main sections, H2 subheadings (24px, bold) for categories and product names, and body text (16px, regular) for descriptions and informational content.
- Border-radius system: Three levels of rounding define the visual hierarchy of interactive elements — 4px for buttons, providing a tight, decisive look; 9px for highlights and product cards, creating a soft, inviting feel; and 24px for product variables (weight, variations), which stand out as self-contained interactive elements.
- Buttons: Buttons follow a two-phase design — in their default state they have a dark outline on a light background for a quiet presence, while on hover they transform into an Old Gold (#CBB162) fill that immediately draws attention and signals action.
- Iconography: Hand-crafted illustrative icons for key categories (caviar, gifts, special occasions) complement the luxury aesthetic, while functional icons (calendar, language, cart, profile) are minimalist and intuitive — designed not to distract from the main content.

A key highlight in the build is the unique product page, designed entirely from scratch, which turns browsing caviar into a sensory experience.
- Visual variation selector: Instead of a standard dropdown, the weights (30g, 50g, 100g, 125g, 250g) are presented as round visual elements with a real photo of the caviar and the price beneath each variation. The customer sees all options and prices at once, speeding up the purchase decision and eliminating the need for additional clicks.
- Detailed product information: Every product is presented with a gallery of close-up shots of the pearls, a description of the taste profile, origin, and serving recommendations — enough information for the customer to feel confident in their choice without leaving the page.
- Iconography for product attributes: Below the main information, a series of illustrative icons communicates key product properties — sturgeon variety, storage temperature, serving method, and certification — a fast visual overview that replaces long text descriptions.
Profile page: the customer’s personal center
The profile page was designed and coded entirely from scratch to give each customer full control over their account and orders in one clear, easy-to-read interface.
- Dashboard with key metrics: As soon as they log in, the customer sees a summary — number of orders, total spend, and number of orders in progress. Three clear cards give an instant overview of activity, with no need to dig through menus.
- Recent orders: A chronological list of the latest orders, each with number, date, status, and value. The customer tracks their history at a glance and reaches the details of any order in a single click.
- Quick access: A panel with direct links to the most-used sections — orders, addresses, and certificates — to minimize the steps to the information they need.
- Side navigation: A vertical menu with clear sections (Dashboard, Profile details, Orders, Addresses, Certificates) provides a logical structure and quick access to every part of the profile.
- Corporate customers: When logged in with a corporate account, the profile automatically shows preferential pricing and special bonuses — no additional configuration. The system recognizes the customer type and adapts the experience immediately.
